Y62 Patrol

101 – THE BASICS

The iconic 6th generation Nissan Patrol has taken Australia (and the world) by storm, and has quickly gathered a cult following here in Australia. With a powerful 298Kw Direct injection V8 petrol  engine, 560nM of torque, Variable Valve Event & Lift technology, and paired with a Jatco RE7 transmission, this platform responds amazingly well to tuning and performance modifications, and ticks all the boxes for a luxury spec v8 vehicle that is equally as comfortable for an everyday drive, as a towing trip around Australia with the family. This is also a serious competitor for the forever loved 200 series here down under!

Unlike some of the international models (aka the Armada in the US), our local Y62’s receive the infamous “Hydraulic Body Motion Control” system – affectionately known as “HBMC”, and is perhaps the most misunderstood suspension system on the market. When utilized correctly, it allows for full wheel travel without being restricted by sway bars and is rock solid on the road.

Team ECC has been at the forefront of Y62 development from day one – with experience in tuning the platform since the initial 6th gen release in 2010 (and even earlier with VK56 tuning experience in the US Titan and other Nissan tuning systems), and also one of the first in Australia to “crack” and understand the HBMC system and develop lift and suspension package that work with the factory HBMC system. With the hotly anticipated release of the Y63 Patrol due shortly, you can trust ECC will once again be there to ensure you guys reap the benefits.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN MODIFYING THIS PLATFORM

Whilst it seems to be a bit of an industry standard, to look at modification paths for a car based on bundles of modification, commonly referred to as “stages”. We have found at ECC that this isn’t always the case, with all builds being different in their own right, and comparing “stages” is generally not a great like for like comparison when there is no regulation between what a workshop will include in said stages.

For this reason, why have put together this basic modification and upgrade guide, which should walk you through the basics of what you need to know when modifying this platform. Specifically, the best ways to go about things and more importsntly, what NOT to do, toensure you dont make expensive or costly mistakes when commencing this journey.

Throw in your details and download a copy – this should give you most of the information you need to know when it comes to this platform, and of course, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
