R35 GTR

101 – THE BASICS

In 2008 the R35 Nissan GT-R exploded onto the supercar scene and very quickly started re-writing the rule book in terms of what was capable from a Japanese sports car. After a hiatus since production was stopped on the R34 GTR, the new R35 GTR was hotly anticipated as the worlds next “supercar”.

With the first generation, known as CBA, had it’s issues, it was well ahead of its time. Closely follwed in 2011 by the DBA variant, they received a face lift and some other cosmetic and interor upgrades, the real changes were made under the bonnet and with the transmission. What is siad to be the “final revision” came in 2017 and is known as the EBA models, which came with furtehr tweaks (and a significant price increase) to all systems.

Powered by the VR38DETT, the hand built twin turbo dohc v6 engines were a force to be reckoned with, and when combined with the immense potential of their first ever rear. mounted independent transaxle all-wheel-drive 6 speed dual clutch transmission and drivetrain turned this platform into a modified markets dream. Whilst a very specialist, and not the cheapest platform to modify, in the right hands the potential of these combos is basically unmatched.  We have seen numerous versions of our own ECC built basic GTR packages absolutely dominating 1000hp + commodore and mustang setups due to the advanced engineering and potential of the GTR when modified correctly.

At ECC, we have always had a soft spot for true JDM performance. A little known fact is that ECC actually opened its doors back in 2005 as a JDM vehicle specialist, and whilt the majority of the market place and evolution has steered us towards expertise in other areas, our original passions, skills and loyalties have always been centred in the JDM market. With near on 2 decades behind us of modifying and understanding the Japanese (and Nissan) infrastructure of how to maximise results from these vehicles, you can rest assured your GTR is in safe hands with the team at ECC.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN MODIFYING THIS PLATFORM

Whilst it seems to be a bit of an industry standard, to look at modification paths for a car based on bundles of modification, commonly referred to as “stages”. We have found at ECC that this isn’t always the case, with all builds being different in their own right, and comparing “stages” is generally not a great like for like comparison when there is no regulation between what a workshop will include in said stages.

For this reason, why have put together this basic modification and upgrade guide, which should walk you through the basics of what you need to know when modifying this platform. Specifically, the best ways to go about things and more importsntly, what NOT to do, toensure you dont make expensive or costly mistakes when commencing this journey.

Throw in your details and download a copy – this should give you most of the information you need to know when it comes to this platform, and of course, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
